Indonesia Arrival Checklist

Pick your arrival airport, traveller type and visa type. The tool returns a tailored step-by-step checklist for the first 90 minutes on the ground.

Ngurah Rai InternationalDenpasar (Bali). Peak immigration ~75 min. 25–35 min to Seminyak; 35–50 min to Canggu; 90 min to Ubud; 3 h to Amed.

  • Pre-pay the Bali tourist levy at lovebali.baliprov.go.id to skip the airport queue.
  • Peak season (Jul–Aug, Dec–Jan) immigration queues can run 90–120 min.
  • Walk past the in-terminal taxi touts — they overcharge 3–5x.

Before you land

  • Passport valid 6+ months from arrival date
  • Onward/return ticket printed or saved offline
  • Travel insurance policy + emergency contact saved offline

Immigration

  • Use the e-VOA lane at DPS immigration (usually shorter)
  • Keep the KTP slip (immigration card) together with your passport — required at hotel check-in

Customs

  • Show e-CD QR code at customs gate

Post-customs

  • Buy SIM at the official Telkomsel / Indosat / XL counter in arrivals (bring passport)
  • If you didn't pre-pay the Bali levy, pay at the dedicated counter just after customs (IDR 150k/person)
  • Withdraw IDR cash from a BCA / Mandiri / BNI ATM (avoid kiosk ATMs — skimming risk)

Transport out of the airport

  • Transport options at DPS:
  • • Pre-booked hotel transfer (USD 15-35)
  • • Grab/Gojek (use the designated app-pickup zone)
  • • Bluebird taxi (look for the proper Bluebird logo)
  • • Airport coupon taxi at counter (fixed-price)
  • Approximate travel time: 25–35 min to Seminyak; 35–50 min to Canggu; 90 min to Ubud; 3 h to Amed

First-day priorities

  • Eat light, hydrate, fight jet lag with an early dinner and early sleep

Frequently asked

What's the smoothest visa option for arrival?

Pre-applied e-VOA at molina.imigrasi.go.id is the smoothest — the e-VOA lane at immigration is typically shorter than the on-arrival payment queue.

Is the Bali tourist levy mandatory?

Yes, IDR 150,000 per person (including children) for anyone arriving in Bali from abroad since February 2024. Pre-pay at lovebali.baliprov.go.id to skip the airport counter.

Should I get a SIM at the airport?

Yes — the official Telkomsel/Indosat/XL counters in arrivals are the safe place to buy. Avoid touts. USD 8–15 for a week of decent data.
